Childhood Self Portrait.
I drove past another branch of the same Surgery I mentioned a few blogs earlier, and it had a similar sign!!!
Maybe it wasn’t just a knackered sign! MAYBE!!!
Great video, exploring the topic ‘Where Good Ideas Come From’
Creative meeting, concept exploration, brainstorm session, call it what you will, but without a doubt it is one of the most important stages of a design process. So why limit ourselves because of practicality? Why not use our God given capabilities of IMAGINATION! The biggest luxury we have as designers, as Humans.
So what, if you have an idea that sounds crazier out loud than it did in your head! That’s the best thing about this process, anything goes. If you don’t think out loud then you’ll never reach a solution that makes people think. After all great design is what engages the audience, right?
Don’t forget the importance of writing things down! Record your thinking process on paper, board, your hands, anywhere! Only then can you go back on your journey of ideas, and who knows you might just spot the perfect solution. No thought or idea (at least at this stage) is stupid!
If you’re freelancing, or working in a team and you don’t have this practice in place, give it a try. Grab a pen and write down all the things that come to mind regarding a particular brief. I’m not saying its a rule, or that you have to do it, but i promise it makes it much more fun and interesting!
